O'Shea: Jones will excite players and the media

Paul Hill, Ollie Devoto and Jack Clifford are in line for their Test debuts after being named on England's bench for their Six Nations opener against Scotland on Saturday at Murrayfield.

There are no uncapped players in Eddie Jones' first XV with James Haskell named at openside and George Ford and Owen Farrell linking up at No.10 and No.12 respectively. Danny Care gets the nod at scrum-half while Chris Robshaw is at blindside and Dylan Hartley captains the side from hooker.

Farrell, Billy Vunipola and Mike Brown have been confirmed as vice-captains.

Courtney Lawes is passed fit after an injury scare earlier in the week and he joins back-row Clifford and tight-head Hill and inside centre Devoto on England's bench. Maro Itoje and Elliot Daly will travel with England to Murrayfield.

"There were some tight calls on selection, but we have picked a match-day squad with a blend of experience and youth," Jones said. "The boys have worked hard since coming into camp to understand how I want the team to play going forward. We have prepared well and I am pleased with the progress the group has made in the short time we've had together.

"We are indebted to the work Stuart Lancaster has done over last four years. I have inherited a talented and highly motivated group of players. We are confident we can go to Edinburgh and win, but we're in no doubt it will be a huge challenge. Playing at Murrayfield in front of a passionate Scottish crowd will be a real test for this team but one I know we can rise to.

"We have named three vice captains in Owen Farrell, Billy Vunipola and Mike Brown who will support Dylan Hartley with his leadership responsibilities."

England:

Mike Brown, Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Owen Farrell, Jack Nowell, George Ford, Danny Care; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley (captain), Dan Cole, George Kruis, Joe Launchbury, Chris Robshaw, James Haskell, Billy Vunipola

Replacements: Jamie George, Mako Vunipola, Paul Hill, Courtney Lawes, Jack Clifford, Ben Youngs, Alex Goode, Ollie Devoto
