Stuart Hogg: Scotland have not regressed

Highlights: Scotland 9-15 England

Stuart Hogg is adamant Scotland are moving forward despite the setback of their Six Nations opening round defeat to England on Saturday.

There was optimism in Murrayfield ahead of the Calcutta Cup showdown with Scotland fancying their chances of a victory after a World Cup which saw them reach the quarter-finals. But England retained the bragging rights with a 15-9 victory.

Asked afterwards if Hogg felt they had failed to capitalise on their World Cup momentum, he said: "No, definitely not. The high of the World Cup we had is in the past now. We will continue to learn and work hard on the training pitch.

"Getting a win first up would have done wonders for everybody but unfortunately that's not the case. Again, though, we will knuckle down, work hard and see what happens next week." Scotland now travel to Wales next weekend looking to get their first win of the championship.
