France international Raphael Lakafia has penned a new two-year deal with Top 14 side Biarritz.

The 23-year-old No.8 was a shock inclusion in France's 30-man squad for the 2011 World Cup as he was uncapped at the time. He took his bow against Ireland in August 2011 before appearing against Japan and Tonga in the World Cup. Biarritz have struggled this season after failing to progress through their Heineken Cup group and currently find themselves in twelfth place in the Top 14. But the announcement will come as a timely boost ahead of their trip to Castres on Saturday.

Lakafia was courting interest from fellow Top 14 side Racing Metro as they attempt to find a long-term replacement for Sebastien Chabal. But Lakafia has followed in the footsteps of Fabien Barcella and Magnus Lund in committing his future to the Basque side.
