Saracens are reportedly closing in on the signing of Jim Hamilton to replace retiring skipper Steve Borthwick.

Hamilton is currently at Montpellier, just one year into a three-year deal, but reports in the Daily Telegraph say Saracens are close to agreeing a deal to bring in the Scotland international. Any deal is reliant on Sarries securing an early release for Hamilton from his existing contract.

Before Borthwick gives any thought to retiring, his side will continue focusing on the current season with his team going for both the Aviva Premiership and the Heineken Cup. For Jacques Burger, who claimed the Man of the Match award for his performance in Saracens' 46-6 semi-final win over Clermont on Saturday, he wants his team to finish the season with the double.

"We want to win the Premiership and the Heineken Cup," he said. "For now, one is not enough."
