Wales captain Ryan Jones hailed the effort of the whole team after their stunning RBS 6 Nations victory over England. The Welsh fought back from 16-6 down at half-time to win 26-19 at Twickenham and get new coach Warren Gatland's era off to a flying start.

Jones told BBC Sport: "I can't think of the words. It's the most fantastic day of my career. I'm so proud and after the effort of the last two weeks we thoroughly deserve it. We knew we had worked hard enough and we were good enough - it was just a case of putting it all into practice.''

Jones admitted Gatland and his assistant Shaun Edwards had made an impact but he was keen to praise his team-mates. He added: "They have done a pretty good job but it is a team effort. We came here as a small squad and to turn them over on their own patch is fantastic.''

Man of the match James Hook, who kicked four penalties and two conversions, revealed the team never gave up hope of pulling off a first Twickenham win for 20 years. He said: "The first half did not go our way but we came out in the second half believing in ourselves. We had no possession in the first half and it was about keeping the ball. We did that in the second half. But we have got to keep our feet on the ground. There are more hard games to go.''
