Wales centre Jamie Roberts will undergo a scan on Sunday in order to determine the seriousness of a shoulder injury sustained in the closing minutes of Saturday's 23-15 Six Nations win over England at the Millennium Stadium.

Roberts received the injury in the 78th minute of what had been a gruelling afternoon's work for the Cardiff Blues back. Roberts was targeted by England as a big ball-carrying threat after his exploits in a Man of the Match performance against Scotland in Wales' opening championship game.

"I am hoping it won't be that serious," Roberts told The Western Mail. "I have had a knock in it before and I will have a scan tomorrow. It was really hurting towards the end of the game. But I was determined not to go off the field in a game like this."

Roberts engaged in a game-long duel with England openisde Joe Worlsey, whose ferocious tackling earned him the Man of the Match honour.

"I was absolutely battered and bruised at the end and it was the toughest game I have ever played in," said Roberts. "They really targeted our ball-carriers. I knew I was going to attract attention after what happened in Scotland last week. Joe Worsley did a great man-to-man job on me and that is the reason they picked him.

"He tackled really well but it took him out of the game.I made a couple of nice breaks, although perhaps we did not get over the gainline as much as we did against Scotland. It is something I am going to have to get used to but hopefully this means I can act as a decoy."
