Scotland are awaiting further news after lock Jim Hamilton began treatment on the shoulder injury that caused his early exit from the field during Saturday's Six Nations loss to France at the Stade de France.

Hamilton has been examined by surgeon Richard Nutton at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital.

"On first examination it may well be that Jim has had a bleed around the covering of the bone," said Scotland team doctor James Robson. "He may require further investigation later in the week but we are proceeding with his rehabilitation at present."

Scotland were again left nursing a lengthy injury-list following Saturday's defeat, with Glasgow centre Graeme Morrison carrying an ankle injury that will keep him out of training for a week and Simon Danielli, Phil Godman, Mike Blair, Moray Low, Jason White and Kelly Brown are all expected to miss between one and two days of training with knocks.

There is better news concerning prop Euan Murray however, whose rib injury the Scotland team are "cautiously optimistic" about. Murray may be fit to return to action in Scotland's next Six Nations game, at home to Italy on February 28.

France are also counting the costs in the prop department after Nicolas Mas limped off after the first-half at the Stade de France. Mas could miss France's crucial tie with Wales in two weeks after tearing his adductor muscles in his left leg.

France boss Marc Lievremont will be hoping that his players come through this weekend's Top 14 matches without injury and are fit and raring for their shortened international training camp next week.

"There will be continuity," he said, when asked about his squad selection for the Wales game. "I don't see how, in this context, we could change a dozen players with just four days of training. We also have confidence in them. But I would have really liked to have kept the players this week.

"We are a bit bewildered. On a day when our battling qualities and our discipline reassure us (against Scotland), there are other problems which are uncovered. We are going to continue to work in quite tricky conditions before hosting Wales on the Friday evening."
