Jonny Wilkinson has been released from the England camp in order to join up with Toulon for Top 14 action this weekend.

The fly-half has opted to get game-time under his belt after playing only a cameo role in England's opening Six Nations clashes, although the majority of Martin Johnson's squad have been rested for the weekend's domestic fixtures.

Leicester's Toby Flood retained the No.10 jersey for victories over Wales and Italy, leaving Wilkinson eager to lace up his boots for Toulon's clash with Agen at the Stade Armandie on Saturday. The play-off hopefuls are currently without the injured Felipe Contepomi and Gavin Henson.

Ireland pivot Ronan O'Gara will also be on duty this weekend for Munster, having fulfilled a similar supporting brief to Wilkinson so far in the Championship.

The 33-year-old playmaker saved Ireland with a late drop-goal in their opening showdown against Italy in Rome but was unable to pull off similar heroics in last weekend's loss to France in Dublin.

He has been joined in the squad for Munster's Friday night meeting with Edinburgh at Thomond Park by back-rower Denis Leamy and scrum-half Peter Stringer.
