England's Six Nations victory over France at Twickenham last weekend has lifted them above their rivals and into fourth on the IRB World Rankings.

The 17-9 triumph kept Martin Johnson's side on course for a first Grand Slam since 2003 and also gave them an advantage of almost a point over Les Bleus in the rankings, although they are still over two points behind third-placed South Africa and almost 10 off the All Blacks in first.

France drop to fifth, with Ireland remaining sixth, while there was also a move up the charts for Wales following their win over Italy in Rome.

Warren Gatland's side leapfrogged Argentina into seventh, with Scotland ninth and Italy bringing up the rear for Six Nations countries in 12th.

Meanwhile, Romania moved up to 18th in the table after hammering Russia 33-3 in a European Nations Cup clash in Bucharest.
