Ireland international Luke Fitzgerald has signed a new two-year deal with Leinster.

The 25-year-old, who has been capped 26 times by Ireland, will now remain at the Irish Province until 2015, following rumours of a move to rivals Munster. Fitzgerald has scored 26 tries in 108 appearances for Leinster since making his debut at the age of 19.

"I'm delighted to commit my future here," said Fitzgerald. "It is hugely frustrating to miss the run-in to the campaign but I'm looking forward to beginning my rehab over the coming weeks and getting back in a blue shirt next season."

Leinster coach Joe Schmidt added: "We are delighted that a player of Luke's ability has committed his future to the province. At just 25, his best years are ahead of him and hopefully he'll be back better than ever early next season."

Fitzgerald played a crucial part in their three Heineken Cup successes - in 2009, 2011 and 2012 - and was also a member of their 2008 Magners League triumph, as well as touring South Africa with the British & Irish Lions.

After a period on the sidelines this season, he came back into the international reckoning towards the end of the Six Nations. But he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Ireland's defeat to Italy on the final weekend of the championship, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
