Home favourite stuns former world champion at Indian Open

Aditya Mehta gave his supporters plenty to cheer about at the Indian Open after he stunned former world champion Peter Ebdon in a final frame.

In the first ranking event to be played in India, home favourite Mehta made a break of 127 to knock out 2002 Crucible King Ebdon, who had been 3-1 behind and levelled at 3-3.

"It's a special win under the circumstances," Mehta said. "Peter is a phenomenal competitor and you could see that in his face. I have thrown away leads before and learned the hard way. I should have won 4-2 but he showed his experience in coming back to 3-3."

World No. 1 Neil Robertson rattled in three centuries to record a 4-1 victory over Noppon Saengkham, but Ryan Day stumbled to a 4-2 defeat to this year's surprise package at the World Championship Dechawat Poomjaeng.
