O'Sullivan earns Champion of Champions crown
Ronnie O'Sullivan added another illustrious title to his glittering career after defeating Stuart Bingham 10-8 in the Champion of Champions final.
Bingham, who won the Premier League in 2012, led 5-4 after Sunday's afternoon session at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The Basildon player made two impressive 109 breaks to find daylight before O'Sullivan responded with a crucial visit of 130 to move within one at the interval.
Play resumed on Sunday evening, where world champion O'Sullivan took frames 10 and 11 to move into a slender lead, including a 93 break. Bingham responded with consecutive frames of his own, before the 'Rocket' regained the advantage with visits of 62 and 96.
A 66 from Bingham made it eight frames apiece, but O'Sullivan did enough to clinch the two more needed for victory.
The Champion of Champions pits together the top 16 players in the world, who are split into four groups based on their world rankings. Each group features two semi-finals then a final, with each of the four winners of the finals going through to the semi-finals of the tournament proper.
