Liang Wenbo missed out on the chance to make the 100th 147 maximum break in the history of snooker, but still qualified for the last 64 of the UK Championship.

The player who fought from 4-1 down to defeat Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-4 at October's International Championship defeated Elliot Slessor 6-4 on Wednesday at the UK Championship.

Wenbo had potted 15 reds with 15 blacks, but missed the final yellow. "I didn't know it was £59,000 and just concentrated on playing," said Wenbo after the match about the prize for a maximum break.

"During the last frame I thought I could make a high break after the second red. I got a very good chance but I was unlucky. I potted the last red, got the angle on the last black and hit it a little bit too hard so it wasn't easy on the yellow. I still had a chance but I think I rushed it a bit. Maybe next time."

Meanwhile, Jack Lisowski was stunned by Michael Leslie after blowing a 4-0 advantage to lose 6-4, while Ryan Day was also sent packing as he lost 6-5 to Chris Wakelin.
