Delight for Dale at Snooker Shootout
Dominic Dale triumphed at this year's Snooker Shootout in Blackpool after beating Stuart Bingham in the final.
'The Spaceman' won the frame 77-19, knocking in a break of 61 to claim the title after potting a tough blue, and the £32,000 winners' cheque for his weekend's work in Blackpool.
Dale, who celebrated the win by singing My Way, said on collecting the trophy: "I just can't believe it, it's ridiculous. I'm 42-years-old and I should be in my grave now. All through the tournament I've just been playing frame-by-frame, hoping and praying you just play well enough to get through."
Dale dominated his opponents en route to the final, conceding six points against Ryan Day in the semi-finals and one in the quarter-finals.
"I've been surprised with it myself how consistent I've been and I've pulled out some great pressure balls where if I miss one of them I'm probably out so just luckily I've twitched and they've all gone in," he added.
World No. 1 Neil Robertson offered his congratulations to Dale on Twitter, as did World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn.
