Ding Junhui has won his fourth title of the season after beating Judd Trump 9-5 in the final of the German Masters in Berlin.

The match was tied at 4-4 after the morning session but Ding gave Trump no quarter in the evening, scoring two centuries in the five frames he needed to win.

Trump, who had conceded only four frames over his five-match run to the final, lost as many by the midday interval on Sunday and, despite pulling a frame back late on, was well beaten to the €80,000 (£65,600) first prize.

When told only Stephen Hendry has won more in a single campaign, a record that has stood since 1991, Ding joked: "Yes, I know that."

He added: "It's unbelievable - especially with the Chinese New Year just passing. I love the fans here and this venue.

"I'm a lot more focused in my games now - I've learnt how to take control of frames now. It's made me a lot more confident and hopefully I can win a few more."

Bristolian Trump said: "Ding put me under a lot of pressure, I didn't see a ball for four or five frames.

"But, on the bright side, that's the best I've played in a long time."
