Higgins rallies to remarkable comeback against Trump

John Higgins produced a remarkable comeback from 4-0 down to shock Judd Trump 5-4 in the last-16 of the World Open.

Trump made breaks of 100, 63, 110 and 68 to all but seal his place in the quarter-finals, but Higgins rallied with visits 104, 89, 90 and a superb 124 to draw level and send the match into a deciding frame.

Trump established a 38-0 lead but Higgins kept his nerve with a 63 before claiming victory on the colours. He will now face defending champion Mark Allen, who beat Ricky Walden 5-2.

Elsewhere, Marco Fu edged a nine-frame thriller with world No.1 Neil Robertson , potting a re-spotted black in the final frame to scrape through.

Fu made 121 to take the opening frame but Robertson recovered to take the lead with breaks of 61 and 127. That century was the 92nd three-figure visit of his season.

Fu moved 4-2 up with breaks of 127, 52 and 114 but Robertson edged two scrappy to force a ninth frame, which lasted nearly 50 minutes before Fu took advantage of a re-spotted black to clinch victory. He will play Mark Joyce in the last eight after the Walsall potter defeated Kurt Maflin 5-3.

Mark Selby enjoyed visits of 134 and 131 as he beat Liang Wenbo 5-1. He will face Alan McManus, who beat Dominic Dale 5-1, for a place in the final four.

Ding Junhui has three ranking events left to equal Stephen Hendry's record of five in a season after he lost out 5-4 to Shaun Murphy.

Murphy will play Graeme Dott in the quarter-finals after the Scot defeated Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-2. Un-Nooh had been on for a maximum 147 break but missed a difficult pink when on 134.
