Robertson to face Ding in final

Neil Robertson will take on Ding Junhui in the final of the China Open after both players cruised to wins in their last four encounters.

Robertson comfortably defeated Ali Carter 6-2, while home favourite Ding whitewashed surprise semi-finalist Mike Dunn 6-0.

Robertson produced his best display of the week after fighting a virus throughout the tournament. The Australian raced into a 4-0 lead at the midsession interval with contributions of 69, 79 and 70.

Carter made the score 4-2 when he took the fifth frame on the final black and made a break of 106.

Robertson though stormed to the finishing line with breaks of 67 and 41 to move within one match of retaining his crown.

"My performances have improved as the week has gone on and today was the best I have played. It has been a new experience for me to be sick during a tournament but I have kept fighting. It's an amazing achievement," Robertson told worldsnooker.com.

Ding ended the run of Dunn, who had pulled off the shock of the event after beating Mark Selby in the quarter-finals.

However, playing in his first semi-final after 23 years as a professional, Dunn's tournament came to a disappointing end as Ding with top breaks of 58 and 54 eased into the final.
