World No.1 Neil Robertson and Mark Allen are tied at 4-4 after the first session of their last-16 clash at the World Championship.

Robertson, who was crowned Crucible champion in 2010, is two century breaks away from hitting a hundred centuries this season.

The Australian made a break of 69 to make it 1-1 after Allen had taken the first frame with a top run of 42.

Allen went 2-1 in front after knocking in a 62, but Robertson levelled going into the mid-session interval by taking the fourth frame.

Robertson then struck his 98th century of the season as his 100 put him in front for the first time in the match at 3-2.

A 92 from Allen made it 3-3 but Robertson edged in front once again, coming from 60 points adrift by making a 55 break and winning frame seven on the final black. Allen recovered with a break of 82 to end the session all-square at 4-4.

Shaun Murphy and Marco Fu also shared the first eight frames in their last 16 encounter, with the winner set to play reigning champion Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals.
