O'Sullivan scoops Player of the Year award

Ronnie O'Sullivan was crowned World Snooker's Player of the Year at the end of season awards bash in London.

O'Sullivan, who admitted to going numb during his World Championship final defeat to Mark Selby, picked up four titles throughout the 2013/14 season.

The 'Rocket' won the Masters in January, the inaugural Champion of Champions event and the Paul Hunter Classic. In March, he beat Ding Junhui 9-3 in the final of the Welsh Open and made a maximum 147 break in the 12th frame to secure the title.

O'Sullivan was also voted Fans Player of the Year. Junhui was named Snooker Writers Player of the Year after he equalled Stephen Hendry's record of five ranking titles in a season.

Selby was handed Performance of the Year for his 18-14 victory against O'Sullivan at the Crucible on Monday, while his 147 break in the semi-finals of the UK Championship - the 100th official maximum in the sport's history - earned him the Magic Moment of the Year trophy.

Neil Robertson was also presented with a special award for making 100 century breaks in a single season, a new record. He made the historic 100th century against Judd Trump, the previous record holder, during their World Championship quarter-final.

John Astley, who broke into the world's top 100 after his debut season on tour, scooped the Rookie of the Year award.
