Judd Trump wants to make it third time lucky against Ronnie O'Sullivan by beating him in next month's Masters final.

O'Sullivan saw off Trump 10-9 in a dramatic UK Championship final on Sunday, having also edged him out 10-7 in last month's Champion of Champions title showdown.

Trump fought back from the brink of defeat at 9-4 down to force a decider in York, but fell just short of completing what would have been one of snooker's greatest comebacks.

"He's definitely the best player to ever play," Trump said of O'Sullivan. "I'm getting closer and, for me, I've lost the last two of the biggest tournaments to the best player ever, really, so there's not that much to be disappointed by.

"I'm looking forward to the Masters. I'm in good form and hopefully we can meet in the final again."

Trump faces tricky opener against Stephen Maguire at Alexandra Palace, while defending Masters champion O'Sullivan is up against Ricky Walden first.

The two will only be able to meet in the final at the tournament, and, should they meet, Trump knows he can't let O'Sullivan race away with the early frames again.

"You've really got to get off to a good start against Ronnie," Trump said. "You can't give him five-frame leads."
