Golden Lions starlet Elton Jantjies has been included in the South Africa squad for a preliminary training camp ahead of their end-of-year tour of Britain and Ireland.

Jantjies turned in a string of scintillating displays for his province in this season's Currie Cup but Lions boss John Mitchell recently urged the Springbok selectors to resist the urge to pick the 20-year-old fly-half for at least another year, arguing that the player needed more time to develop and could do without being thrust into the international arena at such a tender age.

However, Jantjies now appears likely to tour with the reigning world champions after being summoned to train with the Boks during their two-day camp in Johannesburg next week.

As well as Jantjies, Natal Sharks backs Patrick Lambie and Lwazi Mvovo, and Western Province No.8 Duane Vermeulen have also been named in the squad on the back of impressive Currie Cup form. Willem Alberts, Dean Greyley, Ashley Johnson, Werner Kruger, Gerhard Mostert, Coenie Oosthuizen and Deon Stegmann are the other uncapped players included in the panel.
