Three players are set to make their debut for the New South Wales when the Waratahs take on Queensland in rugby's Ricoh Cup at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night.

Wingers Peter Miller and Nigel Waugh and five-eighth Tim Donnelly will don the Waratahs jersey for the first time in the opening match of the tournament.

Wallaby World Cup winger Scott Staniforth was ruled out with a shoulder injury, joining centre Jason Little, lock John Welborn and hooker Mark Crick on NSW's injured list.

Matt Burke will lead the Waratahs in place of the injured Little, the incumbent Australian fullback looking for a big performance against the Reds' Chris Latham, who is tipped to oust Burke for a Wallaby position.

NSW: Matthew Burke, Peter Miller, Marc Stcherbina, Nathan Grey, Nigel Waugh, Tim Donnelly, Chris Whitaker, David Lyons, Phil Waugh, Stu Pinkerton, Peter Besseling, Tom Bowman, Jason Reilly, Brendan Cannon, Richard Harry. Reserves: Darren Junee, Christian Warner, Sam Payne, Nick Gregorski, Jono West, Al Baxter, James McCormack.
