Five penalties out of seven attempts from Hernan Vidou accounted for all of Argentina's points as they recorded a famous 15-13 victory over England in Buenos Aires to square the two-Test series. The result was especially galling for coach Geoff Cooke who said that a defeat to the hosts would be "an absolute disaster". England's handling was poor and the (English) media turned on the referee. "Argentina scarcely even bothered to throw in straight, so that jumping across became the order of the day," fumed David Hands in the Times. "There were inconsistencies at the scrum; Madero was allowed to run behind both his centres in the hope of bringing his wing into play; and the application of the offside law was, shall we say, limited. "

2012
The Chiefs wrapped up the Super Rugby title with a thumping 37-6 victory over the Sharks at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton. The hosts produced a superb display to sweep a bruised and battered Sharks outfit aside and lay claim to their first championship, with departing centre Sonny Bill Williams setting the seal on their deserved victory with the final try of the game.

1956
South Africa bounced back from the disappointment of losing the first Test against New Zealand to claim a hard-fought 8-3 victory over their tour hosts in Wellington. However, that was to be as good as it got for the Springboks, who had been beaten 10-6 in Dunedin three weeks previously, because New Zealand went on to win the two remaining Tests, in Christchurch and Auckland, to record a 3-1 series win.

In the Lions' first visit to South Africa, English centre Randolph Aston bagged four tries for the tourists in their 18-0 victory over King William's Town.

1937
Gerry Brand kicked South Africa to a 39-3 win over Manawatu in Palmerston North. The fullback scored four conversions, three penalties and a drop goal during a one-sided victory for the tourists.

1971
The British & Irish Lions recorded a commanding 39-6 victory over Manawatu-Horowhenua at Palmerston North, with Wales wing John Bevan helping himself to four tries.

1982
A stunning long-range penalty from Roger Gould clinched a nail-biting 13-12 victory for Australia in their clash with Hawke's Bay in Napier. England flanker Peter Winterbottom was the man responsible for giving away the penalty which decided the game in the tourists' favour.
