Springbok Sevens international Lionel Mapoe has been ordered to return to the Cheetahs by the Bloemfontein High Court, ending his dalliance with the Sharks.

The winger has been training with the Sharks in recent weeks but must report to the Cheetahs' business address by 15.00 on Thursday, having expressed his desire to join the Sharks despite an existing contract with Free State.

The court ruled that Mapoe could not transfer to another union until the end of his contract on October 31, 2011 unless the Cheetahs consented to a move.

"We would like to see Mapoe playing on the Free State field and hope this has brought an end to the issue," Cheetahs president Harold Verster told Sport 24. "We welcome our lost son back."
