Springbok fly-half Patrick Lambie will miss the Sharks' historic Super Rugby clash with the Crusaders at Twickenham due to a finger injury.

The 20-year-old playmaker has been ruled out for three weeks and replaced at No.10 by Jacques Louis Potgieter for this weekend's Christchurch fundraising game, which will be the first Super Rugby clash to be staged outside the SANZAR nations since the inception of the tournament.

The Sharks have been boosted elsewhere however, with John Plumtree able to name South Africa winger JP Pietersen on the bench. Also among the replacements, Eugene van Staden and Gerhard Mostert come in for Craig Burden and Anton Bresler respectively.

"I hope we get a good crowd for this match because there are hundreds of thousands of South African and New Zealand ex-pats living in the UK," Sharks skipper John Smit said. "Hopefully we'll see more black and white than black and red in the crowd.

"There has been a huge amount of excitement about this game and people over there are hungry for Super Rugby and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to be able to support their teams in real life.

"I'm pretty sure it will be well-supported, not only because there are two good Super Rugby teams playing each other, but because it's for a good cause."
