Bath Rugby have loaned South African No.8 Nick Koster to Bristol for the season.

Koster joined Bath last term from the Stormers but had limited chances in their first team. And he will add to Bristol's back-row resources which include Koster's former team-mate Ben Skirving.

"Nick will thrive for Bristol in what is an increasingly competitive Championship," Bath boss Gary Gold said. "We are lucky at Bath Rugby to have so many experienced back rowers at the moment, so we knew Nick's development would be best served somewhere he would get regular game time. Fortunately for us, he won't be too far away from Bath to be called upon should the need arise."

Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson added: "Nick's a hungry, young performer and - as we saw in the recent pre-season friendly against Bath - he's a real talent. Nick gives us another option in a competitive back row. His versatility will be a benefit to us during such a long, gruelling campaign."
