Jake White has continued his global recruitment drive at Montpellier, with Demetri Catrakilis signing a two-year contract with an option to extend by another season. Montpellier only this week also signed Wallabies scrum-half Nic White on a similar deal of two years plus a one-year option.

Catrakilis is contracted with Western Province until the end of 2015, but South Africa's Netwerk24 reports he could leave immediately after the Super Rugby season if Montpellier pay a transfer fee to join in time for the new European season. Catrakilis starred for Western Province when they won the 2014 Currie Cup final against Golden Lions, but such a deal would see him miss the title defence.

Jake White recently replaced former France captain Fabien Galthie as Montpellier coach. The 2011 Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks coach signed a six-month deal at Montpellier, but he suggested subsequently that he would consider a two-year extension.

"The way I see it, if they extend my stay beyond six months, is that I'll have a two-year opportunity to build something here, time to learn French and also time to experience a different lifestyle," White told The Times. "We have goals here and after the World Cup we are going to try and bring some of the best players in the world to Montpellier to add to an already strong core group that is here. There will be many players on the market when the tournament is over and our ambition here is to try and head hunt some of the best."
