Ruck'n Maul: Not giving up on Springboks

Springboks skipper Jean de Villiers is set for a return to Test rugby in this weekend's clash with Argentina in Durban.

The veteran centre is expected to be named in South Africa's match-day 23 after back-to-back appearances for Western Province in Currie Cup warm-up matches. De Villiers made his return from a serious knee injury in the Springboks' clash with the World XV last month but wasn't considered for the Rugby Championship clashes with Australia and New Zealand due to a lack of fitness.

But with two more games under his belt the 34-year-old midfielder will now likely start one, if not both, of the Springboks' back-to-back clashes with the Pumas. The midfield pairing of Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriel has proved a huge success in de Villiers' absence however, leaving coach Heyneke Meyer with a difficult decision ahead of the Durban clash.

Along with de Villiers, the Springboks will also have scrum-half Fourie du Preez and back-rower Willem Alberts available for selection. They will still be without the likes of Victor Matfield, Marcell Coetzee, JP Pietersen, Francois Louw and Jannie du Plessis however in what has become a familiar injury problem for Meyer ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
