England fly-half Danny Cipriani has been charged with drink-driving, police have said.

The Sale Sharks player was unhurt in a collision between his Mercedes and a Toyota in the Chelsea area of west London shortly after 5am on June 1.

The 28-year-old was given a breath test and taken to a west London police station before being released on bail. Scotland Yard confirmed he was charged on Thursday and will appear at West London Magistrates' Court on Dec. 10.

There were no reports of any injuries following the crash involving Cipriani's black Mercedes C63 and a silver Toyota Prius.

The player, from West Wimbledon, joined Sale Sharks as a fly-half in 2010, two years after his England debut. However, he was left out of the squad for this year's Rugby World Cup amid a reported disagreement with attack coach Mike Catt.

He has regularly been in the public eye during his career following his relationship with model Kelly Brook, as well as his sporting achievements.
