Wales captain Sam Warburton is expected to be fit to join his country's tour of New Zealand next month.

Warburton injured his right shoulder during Cardiff Blues' defeat to the Ospreys last weekend but a subsequent examination of the affected area has proved positive.

The flanker will not take part in the Blues final PRO12 match of the season against Edinburgh this weekend, but is expected to be fit to board the flight to New Zealand.

"Sam is going through an assessment after spraining an AC joint in his right shoulder," Blues head coach Danny Wilson said. "I do not know how long he will be out for.

"A lot of these injuries depend on the person involved and their professionalism and diligence to get back.

"Sam will do everything he needs to get back to fitness and my understanding is that it is a minor, short-term injury that means he has every opportunity of making the Wales tour.

"I do not see there being a major issue with that."

Wales take on England at Twickenham on May 29 before departing for a three-Test series against the All Blacks.
