NEC Harlequins' full-back Mark Mapletoft will be out for three to four weeks after dislocating a knee during his side's win against Bristol at the weekend.

The former Gloucester favourite was substituted after twisting awkwardly in a tackle early in the first half and the knee popped out briefly.

He was due to see a specialist this week to find out if he had sustained any ligament damage.

Better news for Quins, as they prepare to face Gloucester on Saturday, though is that Jamie Williams is set to make a return having come through a second team game against London Irish on Tuesday.

The game was won by Irish 28-7 but Williams, who has had a lengthy lay-off with a recurring injury that disrupted most of last season, experienced no adverse reaction.

Also in line for a return from injury is summer signing from Bedford Roy Winters, whose expected return this week, along with the arrival of David Wilson last week, should significantly strengthen a Quins back row that has been hit by injuries.

Flanker Past Sanderson, who sustained ankle ligament damage against Bath three weeks ago, is expected to be out for up to a further three weeks.
