Cats build management team for Super 12

Free State assistant coach Gysie Pienaar and SA under-21 coach Eric Sauls will serve as Laurie Mains' assistants in the Super 12 next season.

It surprised some that former All Black fullback Mains has opted for the services of Pienaar. But according to Cats chief executive Johan Botes, "Laurie's speciality is actually the forwards. In specific areas though, such as lineouts, we'll call in Balie (Swart)."

Pienaar told a website: "We actually still have a couple of things to sort out. But they're only small things. There's no chance of me not taking up the appointment."

Both Swart and Sauls formed part of Mains' management team this year. Swart will now act as technical advisor.
