Wales make three changes for USA
Cardiff
November 13, 2000

Wales coach Graham Henry has made three changes to the 22-man squad that defeated Samoa for this Saturday's Test against the USA in Cardiff.

Experienced locks Chris Wyatt and Andy Moore are called up from the A team that lost to New Zealand A last Friday.

Swansea prop Darren Morris, a regular loosehead asked to play on the tight against the New Zealanders, also makes the step up.

Swansea's James Griffiths, who was sin-binned within a minute of coming on for his first cap against the Samoans, fellow debutant Deiniol Jones and Cardiff prop Spencer John all drop to the A squad to meet South Africa on Wednesday 22 November.

Henry said: "Last weekend's games gave the coaches, management and players a better understanding of where we stand in terms of co-ordination and development.

"I think we were a bit rusty when we started against Samoa and we obviously have some way to go.

"Hopefully, we can start further up the ladder against the USA and I'll certainly be looking for a more complete performance for longer periods in that game.

"There were elements in both matches last weekend with which we were pleased and some that need reassessing and improvement.

"Practice and playing are such diverse elements that it does take time to get everything right, especially since the players had so many new aspects to take on board.

"It is only by putting them into the game situation that the smoothness and confidence we are seeking will come.

"The whole process is one of developing a national squad where internal competition is such that all members have to be at their very best at all times if they are to be certain of selection."
