Tri Nations 2001 fixtures announced

November 15, 2000
The dates and venues for next year's Tri Nations tournament have been released. South Africa enjoy the relative luxury of beginning their campaign with two home fixtures.Australia, the defending champions, will again play in the Western Australian city of Perth, not regarded as a rugby stronghold but perhaps ready for further exposure to the game. The tournament was hugely successful this year. The test match between the Wallabies and the All Blacks in Sydney will live long in the memory, perhaps it was the greatest test match of all time as the Australians struggled heroically to overcome the try-scoring blitz that hit them at the start of the game, only to be denied by Jonah Lomu's sensational last-minute try.
