Kempson eyes England scalp
November 28, 2000

Springbok loosehead prop Robbie Kempson said there would be nothing better than beating England in front of their home crowd on Saturday.

"We'll regard the tour as a failure if we lose this game. South Africa shouldn't lose to any northern hemisphere side if we want to count ourselves among the top three of world rugby," he told the Cape Times.

"This is the game everybody has been gearing up to. We are looking to it as the high point of the tour. Nothing can be better than beating the English at home."

Kempson (pictured) believes the tight five will be equal to the challenge at Twickenham. "I definitely think we have what it takes to stand up to England. There is no reason why we can't match and go on to better them.

"The SA forwards of old used to be very aggressive and there are a couple of nice chaps in our tight five now. But they are essential cogs to the tight five and bring their own strengths to their game.

"(Springbok forward coach) Andre Markgraaff has pointed out to us that he would like to see our tight five become the dominant foprce of the past.

"Andre is very passionate and he has done a hell of a lot for us. He's very technically orientated and has been a been a great help in terms of helping with moves. We're going through a process and the tight five have improved progressively."
