No action to be taken on citings
December 4, 2000
No action will be taken by an independent citing commissioner following Saturday's hard-fought England victory over South Africa. Welshman Russell Howell studied video replays of England's 25-17 success at Twickenham in which several players were left bloodied. England's Neil Back and Richard Hill received 31 stitches between them for deep head gashes. Howell revealed he had been ``approached by the English management to look at a couple of incidents'' following the game. But a statement from the Rugby Football Union on Monday confirmed: ``After reviewing the match footage from the England v South Africa international, Russell Howell, the match citing commissioner, has informed the RFU that no action will be taken.'' |
