Hawke takes whistle for Super 12 opener

New Zealand referee Colin Hawke will be the man in charge when Super 12 2001 kicks off on February 23 with the clash between the Highlanders and the Blues.

The busy men in the first part of March are Tappe Henning and Paul Honiss. Henning referees Super 12 matches in Rotorua and Albany in New Zealand, then Vodacom Cup in Port Elizabeth in South Africa and then England vs France at Twickenham in England. Paul Honiss is in Auckland in New Zealand, Sydney in Australia and then a fortnight later in Dublin for Ireland vs England.

The other SANZAR referees who will be in test match action during this period are Jonathan Kaplan and Paddy O'Brien, both of whom will be refereeing Six Nations matches on 3 March.
