Perpignan lose Gillingham for rest of season

Perpignan's South African centre Joe Gillingham will miss the rest of the season after picking up a serious knee injury during last Sunday's French rugby union first division match against Castres, team coach Olivier Saisset confirmed on Friday.

The 26-year-old, who arrived in October of last year after playing for the Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup final against Western Province, will undergo surgery on Monday for ruptured right knee ligaments and will need at least six months to recuperate.
