Dunning ruled out by injury

Barnstorming Waratahs prop Matt Dunning is out of action for at least two weeks after sustaining knee ligament damage during Sunday's 35-7 victory against the Stormers in Sydney.

Dunning, whose 40m intercept dash in the first half will remain one of the most enduring memories of the rugby year, suffered a grade-one knee ligament tear. The 22-year-old will miss Saturday's game against the Bulls and the first game of the South African tour the following week against the Cats in Johannesburg.

"I'm hoping for a quick recovery," Dunning said. "I'll definitely miss the Bulls match but
there's a chance I'll be fit for the second match in South Africa which is against the Sharks in Durban."

If the competition-leaders Waratahs defeat the Bulls on Saturday it will be their best start to the Super 12.

Dunning, who has fast become a crowd favourite with the Sydney Football Stadium crowd for his solo bursts and equally devastating defence, said the young Waratahs were not getting carried away with their blistering start. The Waratahs have picked up bonus points in the first two games for scoring four tries.

"We're not getting carried away with our two wins, we've got a lot of improving to do before we're a serious threat to the top teams," Dunning said.
