Boland Kavaliers got their Vodacom Cup campaign back on track with a fine 38-13 win over the Natal Wildebeest in Wellington on Sunday.

The home side dominated the game up front, giving their dangerous backs great ball throughout the match and in truth, they should have scored more than their five tries. The result left the Blue Bulls as the only team with a maximum 10 points after two rounds of matches.

The Kavaliers won the game with an outstanding 20-minute spell towards the end of the first half, scoring four tries with the Natal side having no answer to Boland's attacking verve.

Hooker Dale Santon, outstanding in the loose and on cover defence until he was substituted midway through the second half, deservedly scored the first try as he rounded off a powerful driving move by the home side.

Captain Jannie Coetzee scored the second try after a great break by Namibian fullback Lean van Dyk, while Hannes de Kock, back from retirement, scored the third, before Van Dyk rounded off the half by finishing off the fourth try. The fullback also converted all four first half tries.

The second half never lived up to the dizzy heights of the first half as the Wellington heat sapped both sides and errors punctuated the match. Natal narrowed the gap with a Herkie Kruger penalty and a Justin Swart try, but never really looked like getting back into the match, although they did have more possession in the second half.

Boland Kavaliers - Tries: Dale Santon, Jannie Coetzee, Hannes de Kock, Lean van Dyk, Chelton April; Pen: Van Dyk; Cons: Van Dyk 4, April.

Natal Wildebeest - Try: Justin Swart; Pens: Herkie Kruger 2; Con: Kruger
