The Blues' Auckland prop Nick White limped out of training in Albany this afternoon after suffering a calf injury which could threaten his participation in Sunday'e clash with the Queensland Reds.

The 26 year old White, who toured with the New Zealand A tourists in Europe at the end of 2000, was brought in by coach Frank Oliver to bolster the Blues' front row against the Crusaders , after being omitted in the season opener against the Highlanders. He had a strong all round game and looked to be a certainty to start against the Reds.

In training this afternoon the Blues worked hard at resolving some of the problems they have had with the strict new interpretation of the tackle/ball law. The forwards were noticeably concentrating on staying on their feet and mauling, then when the ball went to ground driving over man and ball.

All Black no8 Ron Cribb was an absentee from training, apparently suffering from a bout of flu.
