Eales out for a second week
March 7, 2001

Queensland will be without inspirational skipper John Eales for another week as they look to put their Super 12 campaign back on track.

Eales missed last weekend's loss to the Chiefs due to an Achilles problem, and despite confidence by team officials he would only be out for one game, the injury has not fully healed. Lock Nathan Sharpe, who had a strong game against the Chiefs, remains in the side for Sunday's game against Auckland at Eden Park.

The Reds will also be without veteran winger Damian Smith who suffered a knee injury against the Chiefs. Nathan Williams replaces Smith in the run-on side, while untried former Australian schoolboy winger Junior Pelesasa comes into the squad. Replacement winger Ricky was not considered due to a hamstring injury.

Queensland: Chris Latham, Ben Tune, Daniel Herbert (capt), Steve Kefu, Nathan Williams, Elton Flatley, Jacob Rauluni, Toutai Kefu, David Croft, Matt Cockbain, Nathan Sharpe, Mark Connors, Fletcher Dyson, Michael Foley, Nick Stiles. Reserves: Ben Wakely, Nathan Spooner, Junior Pelesasa, John Roe, Mike Mitchell, Glenn Panoho, Sean Hardman.
