Bowman back for Waratahs
March 7, 2001

Former Wallaby Tom Bowman makes his long-awaited return on the bench for the Waratahs in Saturday night's Super 12 game against the Bulls in Sydney.

Bowman is one of three changes to the squad announced by coach Bob Dwyer following the Waratahs' impressive 35-7 victory against the Stormers. Bowman has trained strongly since undergoing pre-season knee surgery.

Another former Wallaby, prop Cameron Blades, replaces the injured Matt Dunning and loosehead prop Alastair Baxter comes onto the bench.

"Obviously Dunning's injury is disappointing but Blades' wealth of experience is a bonus and will add confidence to our forward pack," Dwyer said.

"Bowman has been training solidly since returning from injury and he's got that extra spark we're looking for. He'll be used as an impact player during the course of match."

Dwyer has named an additional four players who will travel with the squad to South Africa next week. The players are: Matt Dunning (expected to be fit by round 5), Fili Finau, Sam Harris and Tui Talaia.

WARATAHS:Matthew Burke (capt), Marc Stcherbina, Luke Inman, Nathan Grey, Brendan Williams, Manuel Edmonds, Chris Whitaker, David Lyons, Phil Waugh, Stu Pinkerton, Jono West, Peter Besseling, Rod Moore, Brendan Cannon, Cameron Blades. Reserves: Mark Crick, Al Baxter, Tom Bowman, Drew Hickey, Scott Staniforth, Christian Warner, Sam Payne.
