Fourie in Elephants team
March 7, 2001

Eastern Province have drafted national sevens captain Andries Fourie into the side that will play the Natal Wildebeest in a Vodacom Cup match in Durban on Saturday.

Fourie, who was released by the Sarfu for this weekend's match, will join fellow sevens Boks Wayne van Heerden, Fabian Juries and Wonga Joka for the trip to Absa Park. Fourie replaces Justin Peach at fullback, one of three changes to the side that trampled the Free State Cheetahs 47-15 last week.

Barry Pinnock, the most experienced player ever to don the red and black jumper of the Mighty Elephants, will up his record to 139 appearances for EP in replacing Heinrich Stride at flank. Richard Jordaan's inclusion at flyhalf in the place of the injured Monwabisi Mdyesha is the only forced change.

Elephants: Andries Fourie, Nardi Lombard, Tobi de Jager, Christopher Slammat, Wonga Joka, Richard Jordaan, Albert Viljoen, Jacques Greeff, Sean Plaatjies, Barry Pinnock, Wayne Boardman, Wayne van Heerden, Tjaart Coetzee, Vorster Venter, Dekado Jantjies. Substitutes: Fabian Juries, Ronnie Fourie, Willie Els, Heinrich Stride, Nicky Smit, Basil de Coning, Pierre Durant.
