Burke may yet make Sharks encounter
March 21, 2001

NSW Waratahs captain Matthew Burke is still an outside chance to play against Super 12 leaders the Natal Sharks in Durban this Sunday.

Burke received a positive report after undergoing an MRI scan on the knee he injured in last weekend's loss to the Cats, the Waratah's first of the season.

"The knee looks clear of cartilage damage," said Waratahs doctor Sharron Flahive.

"There's some bruising so we'll see how it progresses over the next two days."

Coach Bob Dwyer will definately be without the services of lock Tom Bowman who also has an injured knee and the former Wallabies coach will also monitor the progress of two other players currently carrying injuries, Marc Stcherbina ankle and Luke Inman rib.

"If Burke doesn't recover in time, we've got him covered. Christian Warner will play fullback as he did against the Cats." Dwyer said.
