Cobus Visagie will continue to add his weight to the Saracens forward pack after signing a contract extension with the Men In Black.

The tight-head prop has agreed a deal for a further 12 months with the Guinness Premiership semi-finalists which will take him into his fifth season with Saracens.

"I'm very pleased to be staying with Saracens," explained the 33-year-old South African international. "It's been a very good year with Saracens and initially, I started the campaign thinking this would be my last season. But things are going well here and I think it would be premature to retire. I believe the job is not finished at Saracens and I would love to be involved in a Guinness Premiership final with the club and also compete in Europe.

"The club is moving in the right direction and I have a burning desire to try and finish the job that has been started. I know that mine is just a small contribution, but a lot of things are coming together and I want to see that through. At this stage, I think next year will probably be my last season before retiring but I'm looking forward to what we all hope will be another good year for Saracens."

Saracens Director of Rugby Alan Gaffney was also delighted that the prop would be staying on for a further 12 months. He added: "It's great that he will be staying with us for another year and Cobus has a very important role to play for us next season, especially in the first half of the year when we will lose a number of players to World Cup duty. He has great experience and is a world class scrummager and he has done a huge amount in helping the development of a number of other players at the club."

The news comes as Saracens announced the departure of prop Ben Broster who is joining Magners League outfit Llanelli Scarlets.

The 25-year-old Welsh international, who has found his first team opportunities limited this season, said that although it was a hard decision to leave the club which he joined in 2000, it was one he made for rugby reasons.

He said: "I've had limited chances this season and when this opportunity came about, it was one I felt I needed to take and it will be a really good move for me and my career. It was a decision I gave a lot of thought to as I have been at Saracens for seven years and have grown up at the club, but this is a fresh challenge and I'm looking forward to competing in the Magners League.

"The Scarlets are a club with great history and Llanelli is a real rugby town which will be a new environment for me. I have international aspirations with Wales and this is also a great opportunity for me to be recognised every week. The time feels right for me to move on.

"I'd like to thank everyone connected with Saracens including Nigel Wray, the coaches, supporters and sponsors for what has been a great seven years and I wish everyone at the club success in the coming seasons."

Gaffney added: "Ben decided that he wanted to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere and we respect his decision. He's had limited opportunities this term and this is a good opportunity for him. We wish him all the best for the future."
