Italy fly-half Craig Gower has crossed codes for a second time, signing for Super League side Harlequins.

An Australian international in the 13-man-code, Gower later joined Top 14 side Bayonne and won 14 caps for the Azzurri between 2009 and 2010 thanks to an Italian grandfather.

He has now opted to return to league with Quins, having ruled himself out of Nick Mallett's squad for the Rugby World Cup due to his ongoing recovery from a knee injury.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of Super League and I'm also excited about London's future," he said.

At Harlequins, Gower will combine with former Otago playmaker Michael Witt, who recently left the Crusaders.
