Arthob Petersen has been reappointed as the Springbok team manager, SA Rugby confirmed on Thursday.

Petersen was selected by the South African Rugby Union President's Council and will fill the vacancy on a temporary basis for the end-of-year tour only that will see the Springboks travel to England, Wales and Scotland.

The 55-year-old, currently the vice president of the Boland Rugby Union, has considerable experience in the role having held the position between 1997 and 1999 alongside Nick Mallett and again between 2004 and 2006 with Jake White.

A re-jigging of the national team management was required after Andy Marinos was named acting SA Rugby managing director following the departure of Jonathan Stones last month.

A statement from SA Rugby said that a permanent manager will be appointed for the 2009 season and beyond following the end-of-year tour.
