Welcome to our live coverage of the opening Test of the 2014 Rugby Championship, the Bledisloe Cup Test between the Wallabies and the All Blacks at ANZ Stadium. The whether has turned a bit black, with rain bucketing down.

While we're waiting for kick-off, re-read our match preview.

1

We're under way with Matt Toomua kicking off. Wallabies get the ball back and go wide quickly from touch ball. Wallabies plying with width but no ground made.

2

Ben Smith wins early kicking duel with Matt Toomua, and Izzy Folau adjudged to have taken ball into touch. NZ lineout just outside Australia 22. Michael Hooper crunches Aaron Cruden midfield. NZ recycling slow ball.

3 0 - 3

Penalty NZ: Scott Fardy didn't roll away from the breakdown. In range for Aaron Cruden, and he's on target.

4

Nathan Charles in front of the kick-off. Horrendous basic mistake. NZ gifted scrum on halfway. Win the set-piece and Cruden chips behind and Folau defuses the danger quite easily.

5

Big break New Zealand. Ben Smith and Richie McCaw effect turnover on Kurtley Beale, to feed Aaron Smith who's pulled down in sight of the line. Scrum Australia.

7

Free kick Wallabies as NZ engage too early.

8

NZ go off the top from the following lineout, and Nonu and Retallick crash up successive phases. NZ recycling well, but Richie McCaw penalised for joining ruck from the side after strong defensive tackle from Sam Carter. Wallabies clear lines.

10

Australia go off the top and Matt Toomua and Scott Fardy crash up. jerome Kaino monsters Kurtley Beale but NZ go off feet at ruck. Penalty Australia, but Beale's decision-making there looked flawed.

11 3 - 3

Kurtly Beale lands the goal from 40 metres. Nice strike. Who needs Bernard Foley to kick goals? :-)

12

Aaron Cruden kicks off short, but Adam Ashley-Cooper spills into touch. Scott Fardy pinged at the lineout and we have another penalty.

13

Cruden pushes his kick right horribly. Let-off there for Australia.

14

Matt Toomua roosts the drop out deep, before Malakai Fekitoa crashes up to halfway.

15

Matt Toomua spills the wet ball and Ben Smith effects a turnover at the following breakdown. Cruden back at the tee.

16 3 - 6

Sweet strike from the left of the posts. All Blacks really dominating possession and territory (68%), and Wallabies not in the game to date.

17

Ball spilled either way after Israel Folau collects referee Jaco Peyper from behind. Peyper laughs the collision off and we have a Wallabies scrum. Solid set-piece from which Kurtley Beale feeds Rob Horne on inside ball. Winger crosses advantage line but then spills the pill in contact trying to lay ball back.

18

Solid scrum NZ. Stabbing kick behind from Ma'a Nonu, which is collected brilliantly by Izzy Folau only for Nonu to hold him up and effect maul. NZ awarded scrum,

20

Aaron Smith grubbers behind from the set-piece and we've got a horrid head collision between Israel Folau coming forward and Nic White going back. White looking sore but OK while Folau is spilling claret. Wallabies ball. Scrum.

21 3 - 9

Penalty NZ after Wallabies adjudged to have collapsed. Fair decision. Cruden on target from 35 metres in front. Scoring points every time they enter Wallabies territory.

22

Folau looked a little ginger taking the ball into contact and he spills ball in contact, but Wyatt Crockett offside when picking the pill. We're back in NZ Territory from lineout after the penalty.

23

Sam Carter and Michael Hooper combine at the back of the lineout, and make ground before ball goes lateral to right where Malakia Kekitoa and Ma'a Nonu put Carter into touch three phases later.

25

Jerome Kaino spills ball under no pressure inside NZ 22. Wallabies scrum and backs stacked right. Strong NZ set-piece and Wallabies go down. Re-set.

26

Wallabies hold up and get ball to Kurtley Beale, who makes ground inside Aaron Cruden and collects Richie McCaw but then penalised for crawling in the tackle to un-do good work. McCaw OK and we're back under way with NZ lineout back on 10m.

27

Folau and Beale combine under high ball and James Slipper makes a half break, but Wallabies can't capitalise and Nic White's kick behind breakdown two phases later charged down and penalty conceded. NZ kick for territory and lineout inside 22 as offence outside Cruden's range.

29

NZ go for a rolling maul from the lineout but don't use the ball quickly enough. Wallabies scrum. Solid set-piece from Australia but Nic White's kicked charged down into touch. Jerome Kaino incredibly strong so far for NZ.

31

Ma'a Nonu knocks on deflected kick wide on right, and we have Australia scrum.

32

Jaco Peyper warning NZ front-row again about pre-engagement. "Next one will be a penalty". Crooked feed, and NZ clear free-kick with midfield bomb and Kieran Read levels Kurtley Beale. Wallabies clear nball but only after taking ball back into 22 and NZ lineout.

34

Australia win lineout and Sam Whitelock penalised phases later for not rolling away. We're back on halfway with Australia lineout.

35

Poor lineout after Nathan Charles seemed unwilling to throw. NZ fail to maximise advantage, and Julian Savea penalised for crawling in tackle.

37

Matt Toomua kicks into corner and Australia win lineout off the top at 2. Penalty Australia but Beale takes tap rather than take kick. Gift 3 points and probably the wrong decision.

38

Yello card Wyatt Crockett for cynically obstructing ball at breakdown. Michael Hooper ignores the goal kick to go for a scrum. More of a gift three points than the last. Jerome Kaino off to get Ben Franks on for the scrum, and dominant NZ back-row now minus a man.

39

Wallabies win the scrum and come right, where Matt Toomua puts Adam Ashley-Cooper through a half-gap. Penalty Australia for offisde after a break by Hooper, and Kurtley Beale now going for goal.

40+1

Kurtley Beale hits the post with a kick that never looked likely to go over. All Blacks maintain strong defence and we go to the sheds at 9-3. Wallabies have struggled to get a fingerhold on the game so they'll probably be content with the score. Ugly night to this point.

40

All Blacks just 40 minutes from their 18th consecutive Test win, and Aaron Cruden kicks off short. Wallabies win the ball, and look to work Folau into space wide on the right. Michael Hooper then makes two strong runs over the advantage line.

41

Wallabies having plenty of possession but not really looking threatening before mistakes either way. And All Blacks scramble ball to touch.

42

Wallabies win the lineout and go right before going back left, Matt Toomua looking threatening. Back for an Australia penalty after Richie McCaw pinged for breakdown offence. Kurtley Beale going for goal. Fifth consecutive penalty against All Blacks.

44 6 - 9

Beale chips the ball between the posts, and Australia making early running in second half.

45

Australia making phases before poor pass from Matt Toomua that even Israel Folau can't bring in.

46

Ben Smith grubber behind wide right has All Blacks back on attack, but Wallabies just about get away with their defence. Short kicking game of NZ is the game changer to this point.

47

Poor lineout Australia as Nathan Charles overthrows and Aaron cruden and Aaron Smith make a half break before mistakes either way. Jerome Kaino is back on the paddock and Ben Franks stays on. NZ scrum after Wallabies knock-on.

49

Strong scrum and Aaron Smith grubbers in behind again. Kurtley Beale clears to touch inside 22 and NZ win the lineout and set up ruck ball.

50

Look to work space right before feeding Ma'a Nonu cutting back but the centre knocks on.

51

Knock-on NZ and Nathan Charles roosts the ball deep into NZ territory. Dane Coles gets back to beat Kurtley Beale and step inside to feed Malakai Fekitoa, who gets them back on the front foot. Counter ruck to win penalty and we're back deep into Australian territory.

53

Scott Fardy steals Keven Mealamu's first throw at 2, and Nic White box kicks away. Big roost downfield and Julian Savea hares back to beat Pat McCabe to the ball on the tryline before working the ball away from danger. Aaron Cruden misses touch and Australia can't capitalise but Cory Jane penalised for being in front of the kicker.

55 9 - 9

Kurtley Beale slots the ball over the black dot and we're all locked up.

56

New Zealand penalised again, and they lead the count 12-7.

57

Australia a little lucky there after Julian Savea intercepts lopping pass from Kurtley Beale in a laboured set-piece move, the winger leveled before he could engage gear.

58

NZ go downfield and win a penalty with Michael Hooper pinged for going off his feet.

59 9 - 12

Aaron Cruden is on target with a horrible looking kick. But it finds the target no matter the visuals and NZ lead again.

60

Brodie Retallick spills the kick-off and Australia hard on attack in NZ 22.

61

Adam Ashley-Cooper gets over the advantage line, as does Sam Carter and Wycliff Palu before Rob Horne threatens.Izzy Folau dances and threatens before Julian Savea and Tyan Crotty hold up Pat McCabe. Force the winger into touch then take quick linout and Aaron Smith roosts the ball back into Australia territory.

62

Sam Whitelock steals the lineout, but NZ concede another penalty under pressure from Rob Horne coming inside on Malakai Fekitoa.

64

Back inside NZ 22, and Australia firmly in the ascendency at the minute. Dominating territory past 5 minutes, but Nathan Charles adjudged to have thrown in crooked.

65

NZ win the scrum solidly and Aaron Smith clears back to halfway.

66

Nick Phipps and Scott Higginbotham making immediate impact after introduction from the bench, but Wallabies unable to maintain pressure and they go backwards.

68

Short ball from Wycliff Palu to Israel Folau, but somehow NZ stop the flying fullback and Beauden Barrett meanwhile sin-binned for not going through the gate. Kurtley Beale has an opportunity to level the scores.

69 12 - 12

Nice kick from Beale and we're all locked up again with 10 minutes to go.

70

Long kick-off from Aaron Smith, and Wycliff Palu and Matt Toomua collide and the NZ have a lineout inside the Australia 22.

71

Richie McCaw wins the lineout at 2 and the All Blacks rumble twice down the short side before Sam Cane spills the ball.

73

Scrappy scrum, and Aaron Smith screaming for a penalty. No dice and we re-set.

74

Free-kick Australia after NZ pre-engage once again. Matt Toomua clears to halfway for NZ lineout. Not straight from Keven Mealamu and Australia elect for a scrum. Australia's tight five have stood firm tonight in a very even contest.

76

Free-kick against NZ for pushing early but probably more that Nick Phipps baulked at feeding the scrum.

77

Solid defnce from New Zealand, but Bernard Foley makes a half-reak before Michael Hooper and Will Skelton get over the gain line. Australia playing tight and central hoping for a penalty.

78

Scrum down, Australia feed on the 22.

79

Strong scrum from NZ, Australia fold and ball not clear No.8 but we re-set.

80

Wallabies come right, and Matt Toomua comes inside. Penalty New Zealand As Sam Carter penalised. NZ trying to go from their 22 to claim world record winning streak.

80+1

New Zealand lose the ball forward, and that's game over. New Zealand's winning record ends at 17. Draw a fair result in the conditions with both teams making errors and neither able to claim dominance.
