Former Springbok fullback Conrad Jantjes will make his long-awaited return from injury in this season's Currie Cup.

Jantjes broke his leg while on duty for the Stormers against the Chiefs during the 2009 Super 14 but has been named in the Western Province squad for the forthcoming season.

Lock Anton van Zyl will take the captain's armband while there is a return to the back-row for Nick Koster, whose recent playing action was out of position on the wing.

Province have nine players away with the Springboks for the Tri-Nations, forwards Schalk Burger, Andries Bekker and Francois Louw and backs Ricky Januarie, Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie, Bryan Habana and Gio Aplon. Fly-half Peter Grant will also miss the Currie Cup after agreeing a load deal in Japan.

South Africa Under-20 fly-half Lionel Cronje is in line to deputise for Grant along with the experienced Willem de Waal.
